Santy Machhy

Jin yuan Li

Sam Huang好地方

ManuelDavid PereiraSuper cool the combination of the historical spot beside the Taipei 101.

Tropical_stormIt’s not really worth visiting unless you have time to spare and happens to be near the area. Take time to visit the Lin Family Mansion instead.

jiun yangLovely place to visit and learn something about the history of the village life. Also they have some nice boutique and ice cream shop.

Daniel ShawCool little place that retains it’s history. It’s like a little time capsule. There is a cool cafe with antique furnitures. There are also an outdoor market that sells artsy things.

Lisa Huang-NorthThe Xinyi community center was a village for families of soldiers in the 44th battalion. With the development of Xinyi area in the late 90s, residents moved out of their homes in 1999. This is now a landmark preserving the culture and history of 眷村 (military community) in Taiwan. While I was working in the area, we would often go the nearby cafe for lunch, or to just sit and relax in the open area. On weekends, the center hosts farmers’ market, 2nd cloth exchange and other cultural activities!

Luis

Flora LamGood place with parking nearby ($40-50 per hour).
5-10 minutes walking distance to 3 metro stations.
You can take photo with both historical building and 101 at same time.

Code ThailandRelax and really chill place to come when the weather is good.

Lily ChangHistorical and well-preserved !
This place can enjoy the beautiful Taipei 101!

brian linThe Si-Si (44th) South Village was the first military kindred village built in Taiwan by the KMT government in 1948 after they were defeated in the civil war in China. Most of the people who lived in the village were the military factory employees, workers and their dependants who left their homes in China and came all the way to Taiwan. At first, they intended to “temporarily stay” in the place that was the former Japenese Army 44th Arsenal because deep in mind they were determined to return to China in a couple of years only. Never did they know that the short stay lasted over 50 years!
In 1978, the residents of the Si-Si (44th) South Village moved to Sansia due to the urban land consolidation. And the site is now home to Skyscraper Taipei101、Financial Centre, a shopping mall and mansions.
Today, Si-Si South Village was approved historic buildings, adjacent to Xinyi Public Assembly Hall and the Cultural Park of Military Dependents’ Village, which were set up in 2003.
