Shao was great!

Did both free walking tours with Tour Me Away. Guided by Ale for Longsham and Shoa for the Old Taipei Tour. Both knowledgeable and very friendly. Highly recommend.

Fantastic and interesting tour! You learn a lot of things that you would not learn elsewhere. The history and the religion part of the tour was just amazing !

A very informative tour of the localized/non-urbanized part of Taipei. Charles and Juno were very accommodating and great at making the history of The temple area into funny and engaging stories. Would recommend 10/10.

April and Josh were informative, humorous, and helpful. April gave me a far better grasp of Taoist and Confuciuian belief, which was one of my desires for the tour. They both could answer any question I had, even why trash cans are so rare in Taiwan. I was happy with the tour and would recommend it to others.

We took this tour on the day we arrived in Taipei.

Tour guides Violet & Vincent both took turns at presenting us with many interesting facts about Taipei in general and the Longshan Temple area in particular. At the start of the walk, Violet provided us with a background of the surrounding area. The Bopiliao historical buildings are quite special and have been well preserved. We spent some time there as Vincent was keen to explain the significance of the buildings. We visited a small temple following which we made our way through Herb alley where we were able to see many shops selling traditional herbs for medicinal purposes.

The Longshan Temple itself looked very beautiful at night and both Violet and Vincent explained the rituals and their significance. They also walked the group through many deities enshrined in the temple complex explaining the purpose of worship for each of them.

Then came the ‘tea house’ area where the story behind the area was provided by our guides. Snake Alley followed and though there are only a couple of shops left where snake is on the menu it is definitely worth a visit. The final stop was Huaxi Street where the night market was on in full swing.

This is a must take tour as not only is the route an interesting one, but also guides Vincent and Violet were keen to tell us much about the city and its people as we walked along.

Longshan temple is one of the most magnificent temple in Taipei. It’s not a place only tourists will visit but also the locals. You can feel the serenity right after you step into the front yard.
